Back in Action

I’m back! It’s been a long year and a half and so much has changed. I started my junior year of college last fall at the University of Oregon. The workload was a little more than I had anticipated with all of my lit classes; and, I just didn’t have the time or energy to devote to this blog. I joked that Chris became the bionic man since that winter they fixed his Vikings Claw (he can play guitar again!), gave him steroid shots in his back, and physical therapy for his neck as part of his opiate reduction. He was feeling great going into 2017.

In the spring, we finally got some wheels and made the most of our new freedom. I took Chris camping to Newport for his first time as a family activity, and he struggled with his PTSD. He was anxious for days leading up to our “field exercise,” but pushed through and we had a good time despite the occasional rain. We also went on a few other short day trips to the mountains just west of Eugene and the Oregon Coast. We saw Slayer at the Cuthbert Amphitheater, and went to the Lane County Fair. We went floating for the first time on the McKenzie River (AMAZING!!). We did so many fun things, and although I didn’t blog, I was good about posting photos on my Instagram, @gypsy_gray

Now that it’s 2018, I’ll be graduating in June. We’ve lived in Eugene for almost 9 years now, and we’re ready for a change of scenery. We’ve been talking about Portland, Seattle, the Bay Area, Austin, or Hawaii. I’m excited about visiting some of them in the next several months and first up is the North Shore to visit our daughter! Are there some great places in the West that I’m over looking?

I’ll be interested to hear what you decide on. I’m in Seattle, and I love it, but I’m always wondering what it’s like in the next town over the hill. I’ve heard great things about Eugene. Just ready for a change? Austin is a great town, but that traffic seems brutal. I guess traffic everywhere is brutal. Please let us know where you land
